What are solar control window films?

COOL N LiTE™  solar control window films are very thin polyester-based products which are coated and laminated with different types of heat resistive compounds. They are applied to automobiles, residential, storefront, commercial and industrial windows.

What types of solar control window films are there?

COOL N LiTE™  Solar control window films come in many colours including neutral, bronze, grey, charcoal, and reflective films such as silver, gold, blue and green. The light varies from almost clear to highly reflective films that only transmit 15% of outside light.  

What are the benefits of solar control window films?

The benefits of COOL N LiTE™  solar control window films include the reduction in solar heat gain, glare, damaging ultra violet rays and winter heat loss.

I heard solar film is more effective installed on some windows than others. Is this true?
 

I replaced my air conditioner with a high efficiency model. Should I consider window film?

Therefore, any additional measure you install will reap a smaller savings but will still be beneficial. In other words, the savings from solar film will be less with your new high efficiency unit than they would have been with your old one. The same is true for other factors such as added attic insulation, caulking or weather-stripping.
 

Does solar control window film lower air conditioning bills?

COOL N LiTE™  solar control window films will reduce air conditioning operating costs while increasing the comfort level of homes, building and vehicles.   

The amount of solar energy that passes through window film depends largely upon the density of the film color. Bear in mind, however, that the more dense or reflective the film, the darker your home's interior will be.

 

Film treatment will reduce air conditioning costs where windows are in direct sunlight; however, the amount of savings depends on the type and amount of glass, whether glass is shaded by another means or not, the angle of the sun and the length of time glass is sunlit. Depending on conditions, about a 10 percent savings in air conditioning cost is the most that can be expected by adding solar film.
 

How much does solar control window film cost to be installed?

The installed price of having a solar control window film applied to your automobile,  home, storefront or building will vary depending on the type of film and the quantity, size and shape of the windows.

What is the life span of solar control window film?

The effective life span of solar control window film depends on the types of film, glass, and climate. There are documented cases of film lasting up to 10 years or more in some instances. This should not, however, be assumed to be the normal expected life. Most window film warranties are for at least seven years.

What are the specifics of the warranty?

Most COOL N LiTE™  solar control films come with a 7 year limited warranty against bubbles, peeling, oxidising, discolorization and cracking.  ( See » Quality Assurance)

Can solar control window film be applied to all kinds of glass including double-pane?

COOL N LiTE™  solar control window film can be applied to most clear or tinted windows including insulated glass, however, some restrictions and limitations may apply. Solar Control films are designed for application to glass only.
